Burrata, a fresh Italian handmade cheese
DeliVer is Sydney’s premier gourmet food supplier for Retailers and Food Services.
Burrata is made from cow’s milk mozzarella and cream that gives the cheese a full, buttery quality, but ensures it keeps its fresh milkiness. The outside of the cheese is mozzarella while the inside contains a blend of mozzarella and cream, which lends it a unique texture. The cheese itself is floated in water to seal in freshness.
The name “burrata” means “buttered” in Italian, and the cheese is named such because of its buttery consistency, not because butter is added to it.
It is best enjoyed at room temperature and should be eaten within 7 days of manufacture. Once opened the cheese must be eaten immediately.
The layering of different flavours and textures both inside and outside means it goes well with salad, prosciutto, bread, fresh tomato with olive oil, or pasta.
